So We Were Led to Believe that the World is the Satan's Closet

...and we were the hangers which kept the devil's clothes.

News about the killing bonanzas, the never-ending senseless wars, the philandering government, the likes...we ogle at every bloody turn of each sensationalized page. Families breaking apart. Angry teenagers turning into drug abuse. Domestic abuse. All the things that disgust each and every one of us, and yet they keep happening. "And the world keeps getting worse," they say.

I rode a taxi cab twice today, both instances the drivers did not have loose change....both of which patiently said, "that's alright, we'll make do of what you have." My fare fell short of a couple of pesos which can make a difference in their incomes, but they never minded.

A couple of young men helping out a lady carrying big bags in crossing the streets. A single mother working hard to provide for her two year old son. People who take the time to teach special kids. Volunteers who reach out to people in need. The missionaries. A capable person sparing a couple of cents to a beggar. Couples who grow to love each other everyday. These are the things that do not make the headlines, but they make a lot of difference in another person's life. These are the things that make us think that the world's going to be a better place no matter how badly tainted it has become.

People are good. No matter what.

(The cab drivers really had that effect on me, I know.)
